Vienna International Airport
Vienna International Airport (Flughafen Wien) is located in Schwechat which is 11 miles south-east of central Vienna. As the capital’s airport, it’s the busiest and largest airport in Austria. Some 19½ million passengers passed through the airport in 2010. At present 108 airlines and tour operators service more than 120 destinations.
Location
Vienna International Airport is situated approximately 20 minutes south-east of central Vienna. The airport is located just off the A4 Ost-Autobahn motorway.
From Central Vienna: Follow signs for the A22 (Donauufer-Autobahn). Travel south along the A22 to its terminus, then turn right at the Kaisermühlen interchange onto the A23 (Südosttangente) across the Danube. At the Knoten Prater interchange turn onto the A4 eastbound until you reach the airport exit sign.
From the West: Take the A1 to Vienna. At Knoten Steinhäusl turn onto the A21 (Wiener Außenring). At Knoten Vösendorf follow the S1 (Wiener Außenring) towards Schwechat, then at Knoten Schwechat take the A4 eastbound for about 3 km until you reach the airport exit.
From the North West: Follow routes towards Vienna. Join the A22 and then follow instructions as for Central Vienna.
From the North: Follow routes towards Vienna. On the outskirts of Vienna take the S1 (Wiener Außenring), which becomes the S2 and then the A23. At the Knoten Prater interchange (1500 m south of the Danube) turn onto the A4 eastbound until you reach the airport exit sign.
From Bratislava: Take the D2 (E58) south to the Bratislava-Jarovce junction with the D4, then turn right (west) onto the D4 (still) E58, which becomes the A6 Nordost-Autobahn inside Austria. At Knoten Bruckneudorf turn right onto the A4 westbound and continue along the motorway until the airport exit.
From the South East/Hungary: Join the A4 and continue westbound until you reach the airport exit.
From the South: Take the A2 as far as Vösendorf, then follow instructions as for travellers from the West.
