Bangkok Airways

Bangkok Airways (“Asia’s Boutique Airline”) flies from their primary hub in Bangkok and secondary hubs in Sukhothai, Trat and Samui to various destinations around Thailand and more widely through South Asia, South East Asia, China (through codeshares with Thai Airways International) and the Gulf (through codeshares with Etihad).

They don’t have any specific information on their website for passengers with disabilities, other than pointing out in their FAQ that passengers wishing to request a wheelchair have to use counter check-in rather than the web check-in service.

This is a pity, as the airline’s actually very willing to be helpful – at least in principle. One of our reviewers found this recently when walking through Siem Reap International with the aid of a stick. A member of the crew at the gate asked whether she needed a wheelchair to cross the apron to the aircraft, or whether she would need assistance on arrival in Bangkok; then suggested that she could contact the Bangkok Airways ground crew in Bangkok if any help proved to be necessary there.

A nice case of proactivity, certainly. But why leave it to staff on the ground when they could provide the information well in advance on their website?
