Birmingham Airport – more formally, Birmingham International Airport – is located at Elmdon, 6.3 miles (10.2km) east of the city centre. More than 40 different airlines operate from the airport’s two terminals, allowing for a large number of direct and indirect services. On average, upwards of 9 million passengers pass through Birmingham Airport each year.

Birmingham Airport is off Junction 6 of the M42 and is linked to central Birmingham by the A45. The general directions to get to the airport are as follows:
Travelling from the North West: take the M6/M6 Toll, then the M42
Travelling from the North East: take the M1, then the A42/M42
Travelling from the East: take the M6, then the M42
Travelling from the South East: take the M40, then the M42
Travelling from the South West: take the M5, then the M42
