Budapest Franz Liszt International Airport (Budapest Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér) is Hungary’s largest international airport. It was known as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport until March 2011, when it was renamed to commemorate the bicentenary of composer Franz Liszt’s birth. The airport handles a staggering 35,000 passengers per day in the summer months, and approximately 8.5 million a year.
Location
Budapest International Airport is situated 16 km (10 miles) south-east of the centre of Budapest in Ferihegy.
From the city centre: Take Road No.4 south-eastwards and follow signs for the airport.
Other directions: head towards Budapest and take the M0 orbital motorway towards the south-east, then the M4 north-west and follow the signs for the airport.
