Cairo International Airport

Cairo International Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and a major hub for air traffic between Africa, Europe and Asia. At present it’s the second busiest airport in Africa after Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport; the two airports are comfortably ahead of their rivals.

Location

Cairo International Airport is located in Helipolis, 22 km north-east of Cairo city centre. Driving directions are available on the airport’s location & distances page.

Facilities for disabled people

Although Cairo International Airport does have a special needs page, it’s fairly sketchy, contenting itself by listing a few facilities (wheelchairs, disabled toilets, parking spaces and passport control services) and pointing people in the direction of their “airliner” (sic). Make sure you contact your airline before travelling – ideally, at least 48 hours before – to ensure that assistance is available for you on arrival.
