Gander International Airport
Gander International Airport is an airport in Gander in the Canadian Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Historically it was a major stopping-off points for aircraft flying across the North Atlantic Ocean. As long-range jet aircraft increased in use, so Gander’s importance has declined, but it remains the home of one of the two air traffic control centres responsible for flights across the northern Atlantic.
Location
Gander International Airport is located just east of the village of Gander in northern Central Newfoundland. The Trans-Canada Highway passes just a kilometre or so south-west of the terminal building.
