Milan Malpensa Airport

Milan Malpensa Airport (Aeroporto di Malpensa) is Milan’s largest airport. It is one of three airports serving Milan and the surrounding region. Malpensa is the 21st busiest airport in Europe in terms of passenger movements, handling nearly 19 million passengers in 2010.

Location

Located in northern Italy, Malpensa Airport lies 40 km to the north-west of Milan city centre. It has virtually direct access to the A8 (Autostrada dei Laghi) and A26 motorways and is also linked to the A4 Milan-Turin motorway and the western ring road.

From Milan and the East: Take the A8 north-westwards. The SS336 connects the airport to the city, off the Busto Arsizio junction. The journey from the city is usually 45 minutes, give or take depending on traffic.
From the West: Take the A4 (Autostrada Torino-Milano) eastwards towards Milan. At Magenta take the SS336 northwards. Malpensa Airport is about 25 km north of the A4/SS336 junction.
From the South: Take the A26 northwards, then turn onto the A4 eastbound at the interchange and follow directions as from the West.
From the North West: Take the A26 southwards to the Cascina Gattona interchange, the follow the A26 dir (Diramazione Gallarate-Gattico) towards Milan. At Calende-Vergiate take the SS33 south to Somma Lombardo, then the SS336 to Malpensa Airport.
